A lovely letter this week completely sums up all the best reasons for writing The Rainbow Street books, which are set in an animal shelter.
“This handsome piggy's name is Henry. He is 3 yrs old, and his human family were looking for a new home for him. We've just finished reading Rainbow Street Pets as a bedtime story, so it's really no surprise that all of us (even my husband) thought it was a very good idea to have him come and live with us. We will pick him up on Saturday.
Thank you for that book. It's a treasure.
It just goes to show that reading a book can change a life. Even for a guinea pig.
