all a bit surreal

The Nim's Island movie news just keeps on getting better and better. As well as Jodie Foster for Alex and Abigail Breslin for Nim, we've now got Gerard Butler for Jack! What an awesome threesome.

And the release date is April 25, next year. Suddenly it all seems real and close - I know that's eleven months away, but it's a concrete date, every day brings it a bit closer. So last Thursday I'd chatted to someone about whether I could do some touring when it came out, and about some new books to write that could come out at the same time. I got off the phone and an email came in to say Gerard Butler was in, and then that night got the email with the release date.

I didn't sleep for two nights...
